The Berg Fashion Library (BFL) is the first online resource to provide access to interdisciplinary and integrated text, image, and journal content on world dress and fashion. The BFL archive includes: The Berg Encyclopedia of World Dress and Fashion (EWDF) with 3.6 million words in 760 original articles; full text of c.60 Berg fashion e-books; an extensive colour image bank - including 1,600 images from the V&A and 2,000 from the print Encyclopedia; extra reference resources - including an A-Z of Fashion and a Dictionary of Key Terms.

The primary target market for BFL is adult, however the archive’s subject matter and highly visual nature, this makes it an engaging site for teenagers and younger children, who will be interested in exploring the content of the site. The study of fashion and world dress can also provide and accessible route into many areas of study.

Publisher’s selection criteria
Berg is a leading authority in this field and the BFL has been 10 years in the making. A distinguished editorial board has commissioned experts from all over the world to write original articles. The V&A's fashion collection is internationally renowned.   
   
Date ranges of the content and details of any updates
EWDF was published in June 2010, with 760 specially commissioned original articles. The BFL covers fashion from prehistory to the present day, with three to four content updates per annum.
