Bridgeman Education

La Maison Moderne

Bridgeman Education is an online resource of images. It is owned by the Bridgeman Art Library, which has been the world’s leading source of fine art, cultural and historical images for 40 years. It offers easy and legal access to over 300, 000 high-quality images, copyright-cleared for personal use.

Bridgeman Education opens the door to the visual culture of civilisations and cultures from around the world and every period from prehistory to the present. The content comes from museums, galleries, private collections, photographers and artists. The collection’s subject matter extends far beyond European and Western art to Africa, Asia, Australasia, the Americas and even the Polar Regions. Additionally, the archive holds local data representing topography, places, maps, documents, historical monuments, buildings and people from all over the UK.

Localised data relating to libraries is a key highlight of the collections and includes artworks housed in local museums and galleries. For example, a library user in Bristol can obtain images from their local museum collection, other art institutions and artists as well as historical events, battles, photography, contemporary scenes, places, ephemera, artefacts, architecture, stained glass and portraits of persons relating to the Bristol area.
